Christine Cooper

Senior Economist, Economic & Policy Consulting

Christine Cooper joined the LAEDC as a Senior Economist in the Consulting Practice in September 2008. Her fields of expertise include natural resource management, environmental economics and urban sustainability.

Before joining the LAEDC, Dr. Cooper was a graduate student at USC with assistance from a National Science Foundation fellowship, working as a researcher and teaching assistant. She has also been a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach.

Earlier in her career, she was a co-founder of a start-up computer company in Hong Kong concentrating in equity transactions software and microcomputer accessories manufacturing, which expanded production into the special economic zone of Shenzhen, China. With her business partner, she also established the first authorized Apple Computer dealer in China. Thereafter, Dr. Cooper relocated to the Los Angeles area to open a U.S. distribution and sales office.

Dr. Cooper is a citizen of the United States and of Canada. She received a B.A. in Economics from the Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California. Dr. Cooper and her husband have two sons and live in Rancho Palos Verdes.
